Top 5 Maps and Navigation Apps in UAE Q3 2023

The third quarter of 2023 saw interesting trends in the Maps and Navigation app category in the United Arab Emirates. Here, we delve into the performance of the top 5 apps in this category, based on data from Sensor Tower.

Careem – rides, food & more maintained a steady performance in weekly downloads, starting at around 17K in late June and peaking at approximately 22.8K by the end of September. Weekly active users fluctuated but generally increased from 88K to 90K over the quarter.

Phone Tracker and GPS Location saw a significant initial growth in weekly downloads, reaching a peak of about 16.2K in mid-August. However, downloads declined to around 5.3K by the end of September. Weekly active users followed a similar trend, peaking at nearly 25.3K in mid-August before stabilizing around 21.6K. Weekly revenue was minimal, with only a slight uptick to $2 in early September.

Yango Maps experienced a remarkable increase in weekly downloads, starting at just 902 and surging to approximately 24.4K by the end of the quarter. Weekly active users also saw a substantial rise, from 459 in late June to over 22K by the end of September.

Waze Navigation & Live Traffic showed a stable performance in weekly downloads, averaging around 10K throughout the quarter, with a peak of 11.3K at the end of September. Weekly active users remained consistently high, fluctuating around 290K to 313K.

Uber - Request a ride maintained a steady download rate, starting at approximately 12.1K and slightly decreasing to around 8.5K by the end of September. Weekly active users remained stable, ranging from 258K to 275K over the quarter.
